You’ll find excellent groomed trails and plenty of wide open spaces, but it’s the intermediate and more confident skier that will find Whistler and Blackcomb heaven sent, with glaciers, virgin snow and some wonderful glade-skiing that will most definitely leave you gasping for superlatives. Test the limits of your thighs on 8000 acres of skiable terrain, or try Blackcomb Mountain which rises a whopping vertical mile. After an invigorating day on the slopes, why not wander through Whistler’s charming and enchanting pedestrian-only village, stroll the paved pathways, browse through a multitude of eclectic boutiques and art galleries.
Whistler offers boundless activities, fine dining, vibrant nightlife, revitalizing spas that blends the charm of an alpine village with the amenities of an urban centre. Mountain goats can also be seen in spring and if you take the Hurley Road you’ll see the ice fields from a distance and in winter with a snowmobile tour you can lunch on these massive frozen fields.
Visit the vibrant city of Langley and the area’s rustic and rural roots known as the Horse Capital of B.C. It is becoming renowned too as a memorable place to play golf with a championship course shaped through stands of stately trees. Nearby on the Harrison River you can watch the amazing birds that flock to the shores and one of the best ways to see the gathering of thousands of bald eagles in the Squamish Estuary and on the Harrison River every November to January is from the water, on a raft.
A recreation wonderland and a wealth of spectacular sights await you, as nestled between the pretty town of Hope and Rosedale, at the base of Mount Cheam you’ll find the beautiful, stunning Bridal Falls and as the water tumbles down the mountain’s face in Bridal Falls Provincial Park, it offers a panoramic view of the Fraser Valley, the falls are the sixth largest in Canada. The Lower Fraser Valley is a rural region of berry fields and dairy farms is also very picturesque and worth a visit. Follow the Fraser River as it narrows at the town of Hope, cutting through the Cascade Mountains, the Fraser flows through a region of deep gorges and narrow canyons. Follow the Trans-Canada along this magnificent section of highway and stop at Hell's Gate where the mighty Fraser River roars at a rate of 200 million gallons a minute and the narrowest point along the whole river's length. Here, you can descend into the canyon in an air-tram for a close-up look at the raging river. The Fraser is the heart of one of the world’s greatest salmon producing river system in the world and not far is the little town of Harrison Creek.
Strolling through the beautiful Queen Elizabeth Park near Richmond in the heart of the shopping district providing a spectacular range of visitor experience with superb attraction and activities along with the pretty locality of Coquitiam and New Westminster Canada’s oldest city which was B.C.’s first capital named by Queen Victoria, this Royal City combines a modern urban waterfront with a core of historic brick and stone buildings and homes. Don’ t forget Irving House and Museum built in 1864, the imposing residence of Captain William Irving, “the king of the River”. Alternatively you can relax in the attractive town of Delta that has been a farming and fishing community for years, an awe and wonder locality where you can enjoy some of the most exciting sightseeing in the world.
Running along the Fraser River is Maple Ridge, with more than 100 miles of horse trails winding through the area, you’ll be spoilt for choice of beautiful scenery. Visit the Golden Ears Provincial Park, a huge park just north of Maple Ridge with excellent fishing, swimming, hiking and biking. Kanaka Creek Regional Park has wonderful forests, meadows and marshes with caneoing and kayaking and there is the spectacular Cliff Falls. Native Indians were catching salmon on this creek 4,000 years ago and today you can visit the salmon hatchery. Named by the Fraser River delta on which it lies, Delta lies, in a fertile oasis of farmland and wetlands. White Rock, a picturesque seaside town tucked on the shores of Semiahmoo Bay is renowned as being the jewel of British Columbia. The sandy beaches, leafy terrain and beautiful and colourful stretch of waterfront make it a favourite spot to visit. Enjoy the succulent seafood restaurants, stroll the pretty Waterfront Promenade and Pier and for spectacular views, Marine Drive offers plenty of scenic seating areas along the red brick waterfront promenade.
Visit tthe “City of Parks” with some 200 green spaces that give Surrey more parkland than any other community in the region with no less than 16 golf courses, check out Crescent Beach and its beautiful sandy shores, enjoy a swim in the protected waters or take a relaxing stroll down the gravelled walkways. Browse the Surrey Museum and Archives exhibiting one of the finest collections of Indian basketry and archaeological objects.
