This is a land of trees where you’ll find massive stands of spruce, birch, and sweet smelling pine in the heart of the Central region. You can also travel along a Viking Trail with a stop at Arches Provincial Park to photograph the two large arches carved by the pounding sea.

In Grand Falls–Windsor, stop at the Salmonid Centre, which provides a great opportunity to see salmon migrating upstream, through underwater windows. A visit to Terra Nova National Park for more natural beauty including spruce-fir forests of rolling hills, sheltered inlets and a rugged coastline. You’ll also find bogs, ponds, streams and glacial features. Along the shores you can see from the mighty whales roaming the rich feeding grounds of the Sounds to the orchids of the boreal habitat, this area has supported an impressive array of marine and terrestrial life for thousands of years. Salmon, moose, bear, lynx and bald eagles are just some of the wildlife you may see at Terra Nova. Or a trip further north to the splendid coastal town of Lumsden.
