One of the most beautiful of Ontario's Provincial Parks, the focal point of Bon Echo is Mazinaw Rock in Eastern Ontario with its awesome haunting images and a paradise of deep, blue lakes, sandy beaches, granite outcrops and miles of green forests. The park is situated on one of the deepest lakes in Ontario and has long been a favourite destination for painters and photographers alike. You’ll find the magnificent high rock face features over 260 ancient native pictographs representing one of the largest collections in North America and left behind by Canada's native peoples, just north of Napanee. This spectacular sheer rock face rises 100 metres above the waters of Mazinaw Lake is a must visit. Here you’ll also be able to see deer, moose, black bear, red fox and beaver in their natural habitat. Nearest towns from which to explore this beautiful area are Westport, Perth and Barry’s Bay.
Further south you’ll find the beautiful town of Picton overlooking Picton Harbour with a pretty serving marina. It has a good cultural heritage and provides six municipal parks for the visitor to enjoy and it also offers marvellous paved paths for cyclists. There are over 40 listed archaeological sites and 125 notable heritage buildings to visit, glorious sandy beaches, golf courses, antiques, crafts, live theatre, artisans, bird sanctuary, quaint shops and quiet drives. In the colder months get your skis out and take part in cross-country skiing, downhill skiing and sledging.
