General Description
Built in 1910, our comfortable Bed and Breakfast home sits on land deeded from the estate of Sir Leonard Tilley, a Father of Confederation. Over the years several families have called this lovely Edwardian building home and we are the third of these families to operate a Bed & Breakfast.

A full, hot breakfast is served in our pleasant dining room at 8:30 am. A generous continental breakfast is available upon request (at 7:30) for early risers.

We encourage you to linger with your coffee on the front porch or in the garden - meet new friends, plan your day or just watch the clouds drift by.

Afternoon refreshments and evening coffee are available on request.

We are nicely located in town - a very short walk along tree-lined streets from quaint shops, restaurants, museums, art galleries, golf courses, beaches and picnic areas. Sea kayaking, sailing and whale watching can be scheduled from the Outdoor Adventure area at the town wharf.

St. Andrews by the Sea is a lovely historic town to explore on foot.

The Garden Gate is a smoke-free home catering to adults. There is a friendly cat in residence. Canada Select rates us with 3 1/2 stars.

ABOUT US

Our home is 2 blocks from water's edge.

You can leave your car in the driveway and walk everywhere except to the golf course.

There are about a dozen eating places in town; something for everyone. We keep menus on hand for you to browse.

Lifestyle in town is very casual. There is no need to "dress" for dinner unless you prefer to.

There are public tennis courts in town.

We are less than a 10 minute walk to the Day Adventure Centre (whale watching, kayaking) and our shops and restaurants.

Bicycles are available for rent not far from the Day Adventure Centre.

Kingsbrae Gardens is a short stroll from the house, and it is open each summer day until 6 pm.

Campobello Island is a lovely day trip from here, crossing the bay by ferry.

There is a Welcome Centre as you drive into town, and it has information on all that there is to see and do in the neighbourhood. They have a great little town map that you may find helpful. We also have brochures here at the house.

St. Andrews is about 1 hour 15 minutes from the Digby Ferry. It's best to have reservations for the ferry in July and August.

We are approximately 25 minutes from the USA border at Calais/St. Stephen.

Bangor is a 2 1/2 hour drive; Boston about 7 hours.

There are many things to see and do in St. Andrews. If you only have one night to spend with us, try to arrive earlier, rather than later, so you can make the most of your visit.

Check in time is 3:30pm and check out time is 10:30 am.

Sorry, we cannot accommodate your pets.
