General Description
Enjoy a relaxed and comfortable stay
in this heritage bed and breakfast
nestled in Saskatchewan's historic Cypress Hills.

Welcome to the Spring Valley Guest Ranch! We have been operating as a bed and breakfast and licensed dining room since October 1988. Open throughout the year, the ranch lies in the heart of the Cypress Hills of southwestern Saskatchewan. A variety of outdoor activities and adventures await.
Enjoy a scrumptious breakfast in our Dining Room before you set out to explore the ranch. Evening meals may be arranged upon request.
Established in 1988, the Spring Valley Guest Ranch is a long-time dream for owner Jim Saville. Born and raised in the area, Saville brought the house to its present location from Irvine, Alberta, over 120 kilometers away. Much of the house retains its original design, including the embossed wall coverings in the dining room. The ranch has seen guests from Europe, China and South Africa, as well as the United States and all regions of Canada.

Spring Valley Workshops

Join Saskatchewan photographer Courtney Milne at one of his favorite prairie haunts: the Spring Valley Guest Ranch. Courtney will lead you on a selection of photo outings through the Valley of Hidden Secrets, including Eastend, the Frenchman River Valley, the Cypress Hills Provincial Park, and the celebrated Old Man on His Back Nature Reserve, the subject of Courtney's latest book. This workshop will include daily assignments, E6 film processing, slide critiquing, and inspirational multi-media sequences.

Local colour includes working ranches as well as ghost-town villages, the 60 million year old fossil beds of the White Mud Pits, the T-Rex Museum and home of Scotty, early 19th century history of the RCMP, the 1878 encampment of Chief Sitting Bull as well as many historical sites of the Cree and Blackfoot, and the highest point of land between the Appalachians and the Rockies.

There will be two workshops: May 22 to 29, 2004 and May 30 to June 6, 2004. For more information and registration, visit Courtney's web site.
