General Description
We welcome you to Blaincroft. This lovely Victorian cottage is featured in "Doors Open Ontario" heritage homes tours.

Built in 1887, our home has been lovingly restored to provide luxury accommodation while preserving its architectural heritage. Steps from our door you can stroll the picturesque streets of downtown Gravenhurst, board the historic Segwun, enjoy live theatre at the Opera House or music On the Barge. Return to relax on the verandah or curl up in front of the fire. End the day in the privacy of your beautiful bed sitting room with ensuite bath.

Our spacious air conditioned rooms feature wonderful queen size beds, down duvets, quilts and luxurious linens. Each room has a cozy sitting area with tea tray and cookies to give you the comforts of home. The front room also has a twin size sofa bed to accommodate an extra guest and a charming ensuite bath with a deep soaker tub tucked under the eaves. In the bath of the second room is a Jacuzzi tub for a little extra luxury.

The house offers several secluded corners for quiet moments. Browse our bookshelves and settle down in the nook on the landing or by the fire in the parlour. Laze in the shade of the verandah or enjoy the perennial gardens.

We serve delicious Canadian breakfasts. Sour cream blueberry pancakes are excellent with maple syrup and toasted pecans. Bryan's famous western omelet is served with sausages or bacon. Home baking and seasonal fruits complement your meal.

We prefer adult guests, however, enquire about children.

No smoking or pets please.

Area Description
Two of the most frequently asked questions are "What is Muskoka" and "Where is it".

Muskoka is an area or district, in the province of Ontario, bordered by Algonquin Park to the north, Dorset to the east, Gravenhurst to the south and Georgian Bay to the west. The major towns are Bracebridge, Huntsville and Gravenhurst followed by the smaller ones, Bala and Port Carling, Baysville, Dwight, and Dorset, Port Sydney and Utterson, and Milford Bay. It is located just a 1½ hour drive north of Toronto and Pearson International Airport. It is accessible by car, train, bus, and airplane to Muskoka Airport or by float plane direct to our lakes.

Muskoka is Ontario's premier lake district and vacation land with well over 1000 lakes. The big three are Lake Joseph, Lake Rosseau and Lake Muskoka. Click here to see a map showing the location of the Muskoka District. We are on the main tourist route between Algonquin Provincial Park and Niagara Falls.

In summer, visitors can enjoy sailing, swimming, hiking, biking and cruising the lakes on the Segwun, Canada's oldest operating steamship. There are music festivals, theatre, craft shows and all kinds of unique shopping. You can even purchase a bottle of "made in Muskoka" wine at the Muskoka Lakes Winery. And, of course, there is golf, one of the fastest growing summer pastimes. Muskoka is host to some of the finest golf courses in the province. If granite rock faces don't distract you the views will.
Relaxing after your explorations throughout Muskoka is easy. Muskoka chairs beckon on the dock, hammocks swing in the shade, wicker sofas with plump cushions lure you to relax on a long verandah or wooden benches provide a resting place in a forest glade filled with bird song. There are many first class restaurants, eateries, bistros, pubs and road houses to tempt your appetite and Muskoka's own micro brewery to quench your thirst.

...
In winter, Muskoka's frantic summer activity slows to a more leisured pace and be
