General Description
Magic abounds at Chesterman Beach B&B - The First Bed & Breakfast on the West Coast of Vancouver Island.
Facing south onto the open Pacific Ocean, this lovely B&B has an ideal location with extraordinary views of the rolling surf and the rocky, tree-lined islands and headlands.
With over two kilometres of broad sandy beach to explore, a whole new coastal world awaits you just steps from your suite or cottage. Discover a vast intertidal zone teeming with marine life, a lush rainforest of magnificent old-growth trees, and the rocky formations and sea caves of Frank Island.

Experience the rumbling, window rattling power of our infamous winter storms, bask in the glory of a sun-warmed breeze, enjoy the thrilling display of gray whales spouting just off shore, and prepare yourself for one of a kind sunrises and sunsets.

Chesterman Beach B&B is in Tofino, BC - a small fishing village located on the West Coast of Vancouver Island, just a few hours from the cities of Victoria and Nanaimo. It's the perfect spot for a romantic getaway, an outdoor adventure, or for anyone simply wishing to unwind.

  Area Activities

Area Description
For the outdoor enthusiast, the daytime excursions are limitless… wildlife viewing, strolling along boardwalk trails, combing more than twenty kilometres of white sandy beaches, taking guided naturalist tours or air tours, bird watching, sea kayaking, surfing, fishing, scuba diving, cycling, and sandcastle building. There are also tennis courts, a 10km jogging/walking trail, and a golfcourse dubbed the toughest in British Columbia.
Storm Watching is another big attraction on Vancouver Island's West Coast, where winter conditions are often just right for spectacular wind and rain storms. Click here for more about Storm Watching.

Local Wildlife
Tens of thousands of magnificent Gray Whales visit our shores from March through October with frequent sightings of Orca whales, Humpback whales, and River otters. Colonies of seals and sea lions, black bears, raccoons, wolves, minks, cougars and some 247 species of birds inhabit our coastal rainforest and the many inlets in Clayoquot Sound.
The nearby Pacific Rim National Park Reserve is 49,962 hectares of protected land and ocean - an area that is home to a thriving intertidal region and a lush temperate rainforest dominated by old growth spruce, hemlock, and cedar.
The Park has a network of scenic hiking trails. Dating back to the late 1800's the West Coast Trail was originally constructed for the rescue of shipwrecked mariners. Located between the villages of Bamfield and Port Renfrew, this challenging 72 kilometer (46 mile) trek is frequented by avid hikers from all over - but you must be well equipped and in good shape, and a permit is required.

Museums, Shops, Galleries
If the weather drives you indoors, consider paying a visit to Tofino's seven outstanding art galleries, the Whale Centre Museum, the Rainforest Interpretive Centre, the Pacific Rim National Park's Wickaninnish Interpretive Centre, or perhaps grab a bite to eat at the Common Loaf Bakeshop. You may also wish to browse the ecclectic selection
