In Yoho National Park, is the Burgess Shale near Golden, a treasure of ancient fossils of epic proportions and perhaps the world’s most significant discovery of 515 million year-old remains of more than 120 species of prehistoric marine animals preserved in exquisite detail and offers a glimpse of what life was like on Earth in the distant past. In some cases scientists can even see what these ancient creatures ate just before they died!
