In the heart of the Thompson, is the pretty town of Kamloops known as "the meeting place" and where the North and South Thompson Rivers meet, it provides great varieties of outdoor adventures and snow sports such as cross-country and downhill skiing, including ice skating.

The surrounding countryside is a combination of dry forests, grasslands and hills. Other activities are mountain biking, hiking, roller blading, horseback riding, boating, swimming, fishing and hockey.
Try golf on one of the four golf courses, or cast a line in some of the hundreds of productive fishing lakes around Tappen and Merritt, situated in the heart of the Coquihalla and whilst you can enjoy horseback riding, fishing, wildlife watching, you’ll find exploring the Spius Creek Fish Hatchery interesting, or in the winter months take to sleigh riding, skiing and snowmobiling. Just west of Kamloops are Savona and Ashcroft, both offering excellent accommodation and you’ll find the bed and breakfast in Thompson Okanagan area is not only affordable, but also most appealing!
